RailTel shares surge over 4% after Rs 166.8 crore EPFO work order extension

Shares of railtel Corporation of India Ltd surged more than 4% during Wednesday's trading session on August 19 after the company announced that it had received an extension of a work order from the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO).

railtel shares were trading around Rs 288.35–Rs 288.50 at approximately 10:30 am, compared with the previous closing price of Rs 277.15, translating into a gain of more than 4%.

The stock opened at Rs 282.65 and climbed to an intraday high of Rs 297.60, while the day's low stood at Rs 282.35.

RailTel receives Rs 166.80 crore order from EPFO

In an exchange filing, RailTel said it had received a work order from the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation for the extension of its Infra-as-a-Service (IaaS) arrangement through RailTel for a period of one year.

The work order is valued at Rs 1,66,80,29,314, including taxes, or approximately Rs 166.80 crore.

According to the company, the extended contract also involves additional components.

The order is domestic in nature and is scheduled to be executed by February 9, 2027.

RailTel received order on August 17

RailTel said it received the work order on August 17, 2026, at 7:58 pm.

The company also clarified that its promoter, promoter group or group companies do not have any interest in the entity awarding the contract. The transaction does not fall under related-party transactions.

The disclosure was made pursuant to Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements Regulations.

RailTel share price today

RailTel shares witnessed strong buying activity during the morning session following the order announcement.

The stock opened at Rs 282.65, above its previous close of Rs 277.15, and subsequently touched an intraday high of Rs 297.60.

At around 10:30 am, the stock was quoted near Rs 288.50.
