UN Condemns Houthi Strikes on Saudi Civilians and Energy Infrastructure

The UN Security Council has strongly condemned continued attacks by the Houthi militia on Saudi Arabia, including strikes targeting civilians and energy infrastructure. The council called on the Houthis to immediately end their military escalation and refrain from further attacks.

The UN Security Council also reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s right to self-defence under international law and expressed solidarity with the kingdom amid the ongoing tensions. The statement comes as regional security concerns remain high over attacks linked to the Houthi group.

Council members also reiterated their condemnation of Houthi attacks and threats against commercial shipping in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, a strategically important maritime route connecting the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden.

The Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab have faced repeated security threats in recent years, raising concerns over the safety of commercial vessels and the disruption of international trade routes.
