Howrah Bus Stand New Prototype Revealed: 12–13-Storey Complex Planned

The first official prototype of the proposed Howrah bus stand redevelopment has been revealed, outlining plans for a 12–13-storey transport and commercial complex near Howrah station. The ground floor is proposed to function as the bus terminal, while upper floors are expected to provide parking for cars and two-wheelers.

The planned complex could also include a dedicated taxi stand, shopping mall, food court and parking facilities, with a multiplex proposed on the top floor. A major feature of the project is a dedicated skywalk connecting the bus terminal directly with Howrah station, allowing passengers to transfer between the two transport hubs without crossing the busy roads outside.

The project is estimated to cost around ₹25 crore and is expected to involve coordination between Indian Railways, KMDA, Howrah Municipal Corporation and the state administration. The proposed redevelopment aims to improve passenger facilities and make multimodal transport connections around Howrah station more convenient.
